POI stands for “point of interest”. GPS POI warners compare your current position with a stored database and warn you by tone, display or voice announcement when you approach a stored location, for example a fixed measuring system, red-light enforcement, a section with section control or an accident black spot. The devices work on a GPS basis and do not need a radar antenna of their own; the Genevo GPS+ can optionally be paired wirelessly with a radar antenna.
When choosing, you should consider the following points: How is the database updated, for example via USB? Which regions and warning types does it cover? Should the device run on a battery or from the 12 V socket? How large is it, and how is it attached, with a suction cup or concealed in the centre console? If you also want radar or laser reception, you will find suitable devices under portable radar detectors and fixed-installation radar detectors.
